The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced SQL DBA to join our onsite team, supporting one of our established Insurance Sector clients based in the City of London.

The Opportunity

  • Assist in specifying and sizing new servers and then being responsible for the installation and configuration of SQL on the new database servers as required.
  • Apply SQL patches appropriately as they become available and assist third party vendors when applying patches or installing their systems.
  • Monitor and maintain system health and availability of all databases and resolve downtime in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor and maintain the security access to the servers/databases promoting the principle of least privilege.
  • Ensure a complete backup solution is in place and that the current RTO and RPO objectives are achievable

The Person

  • Extensive SQL Server experience is required and it is essential to have experience of the latest version of SQL and the new features including  Columnstore, Querystore and Extended events.
  • Performance tuning -  how to diagnose query execution plans, wait statistics etc.
  • Clustering and multi-site availability groups.
  • Net-backup SQL backups of availability groups.
  • Automation of DBA practices using TSQL and Powershell
  • SCOM
