Become an Integration Engineer – Birmingham - Starting Salary of £28,000 per annum

Do you want to join our Early Careers, Fast Track Program? It’s a program designed for candidates with basic IT skills, offering a tailored training curriculum and a clear road map of progression within NTT DATA UK.

You will also have access and support from a panel of experts across multiple technology stacks whilst simultaneously developing hands-on experience by working on live projects and cases.

About you:

We are on the hunt for people with a keen interest in both programming and infrastructure to help us build and operate our Integration platforms, thus enabling our delivery teams to distribute systems quickly, safely and cost-effectively. We are looking for people who aren’t daunted by a challenge and are happy working both individually and within a team.

The on-boarding process:

Stage 1: You’ll undertake a digital assessment online from the comfort of your own home

Stage 2: If you qualify, you’ll be offered a remote/face-to-face interview

Then finally if you are successful, as part of the on-boarding process you will be enrolled onto the NTT DATA UK Digital Technology Academy to complete our 30-60 day finishing school to hone your skills and ensure you are client-ready. We will empower you with these extra skills whilst being a fully employed and paid member of our team!


  • Work collaboratively with the software engineering teams to deploy integrations that fit with common integration patterns
  • Work alongside Senior Developers in workshops, with design and solution architects, to orchestrate API and Integration solutions which are repeatable
  • Develop and test integration services to agreed standards with guidance from senior architects
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and documentation standards and promote continuous improvement, which will be explained in detail as part of initial training
  • Work with Senior Developers in deployment and support of integration services and database schema changes
  • Write well designed, testable and efficient scripts

You will:

  • Work as the Integration Engineer on the adoption of Hybrid Integration or an iPaaS solution with a focus on the Mulesoft Anypoint platform that includes API Designer, AP manager and API studio
  • Be an integral part of the Mulesoft development or other API tools like Apigee, Spring and unit testing for the projects
  • Be part of the team ensuring implementation as per best practices and standards
  • Work with like-minded individuals and experienced architects and develop into an advocate of Microservice, process automation and frameworks in projects
  • Have the opportunity to work with Mulesoft UK and also our wider teams on large programs that includes multiple technology streams and complex architecture

Desired skills

  • A knowledge of Java Development either from your studies or within a commercial environment
  • A minimum 2:1 degree is highly desirable but not essential if you have previous commercial experience
  • A good understanding of the full IT / Software Development lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with a combination of internal and external resource teams to work on developing and deploying new APIs and Integration patterns
  • General concepts of Web Services development
  • Knowledge about Integration Patterns and/or Integration software like Mulesoft will be beneficial
