The Role

The Cloud and Infrastructure Practice lead plays a highly visible role in harnessing skills from across the NTT DATA organisation to help respond to our clients’ challenges in the Cloud and Infrastructure space. Particular focus will be public, private and hybrid cloud; IaaS and PaaS; proprietary and open source tools; API platforms and frameworks; etc.

The practice lead is central in leading and coaching practice members to achieve revenue targets, in developing propositions, and in growing the practice capabilities across industries. Through application of expert knowledge, they help our clients take advantage of the market-leading capabilities that NTT DATA has to offer.

Underpinning account and opportunity development and with a passion for helping clients transform their business, the practice lead supports the full proposition lifecycle from proposition development and supporting sales, through to delivery and client referencing. The C&I practice lead works closely with Client Partners, Market Engagement team and marketing to ensure that our propositions meet client needs, and with Service Line leads to ensure we have the capabilities – skills, certifications, approaches and tools – to deliver for our clients.

The Cloud and Infrastructure practice lead brings expert domain knowledge and a passion for enabling change and unlocking business value through the appropriate use of Cloud technologies. They have a flair for communicating innovative approaches and their benefits directly to clients, understanding the underlying business needs and goals, providing expert advice to support the resolution of complex business problems and to support sales. The practice lead is regarded as a subject matter expert in one or more Cloud platform technologies, speaking at industry events and publishing thought leadership. They are also able to talk at senior level regarding the trends and moves by all the key technology players. Able to advise clients on the best options for them. They are leaders capable of motivating virtual teams in a matrix structure to deliver propositions and capabilities, and overseeing delivery on client site.

Product/ Proposition Ownership

  • Work with Business Units, Client Partners, Market Engagement team, Service Lines, Innovation team and the UK leadership team to build cutting-edge propositions to support the needs of our clients
  • Understand client challenges across multiple accounts and industries, and formulate the NTT DATA response/ approach
  • Work with the Service Line leads, Marketing, etc. to make the best use of NTT DATA’s existing capabilities to develop C&I propositions and client solutions
  • Develop new offerings to the meet Business Unit demands (including technology partner offerings and propositions)
  • Educate key business stakeholders in the capabilities of the team and its propositions, ensuring that key stakeholders are engaged, well-informed, and clear as to the solution benefits and current limitations both internally to NTT DATA and with existing and prospective clients
  • Develop, maintain and communicate a commercially prioritised backlog of work and roadmap for the team to ensure that team members are well utilised with clear objectives
  • Review and ensure assets created from projects are reused and influence project asset creation for reuse too ensure that all projects lead to credentials and case studies

Commercial and Business Development

  • Be the driving force behind the team output to ensure it gets in front of Client partners and the senior contact point for the team to engage with business units, Client Partners and the business development community
  • Support Client Partners in sales campaigns and use pipeline analysis to spot market and technology trends and realign team activity to support exploiting these opportunities
  • Speak at industry conferences and other external events to generate business and raise the profile of the team and NTT DATA. Build customer relationships across target accounts and gain trust and respect as a domain expert.
  • Qualify leads with the Client Partners to review opportunities, ensuring that they are sized and scoped correctly and have the right resources assigned to them to enable them to be won
  • Confidently present Squad thinking, capabilities and assets to clients and articulate associated business value/ relevance
  • Own single-Squad RFP responses, assist in multi-Squad responses, lead the production of RFQ / RFI / RFP responses and other proposals to clients. Direct RFQ / RFI / RFP response teams
  • Propose commercially compelling offers with a view to margin and a keen understanding of delivery risk


  • Ensure propositions are deliverable and be the escalation point for team resource prioritisation
  • Prioritising and guiding the creation of assets that aid and accelerate repeatable delivery of propositions
  • Inform and guide the project resourcing process to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to delivery projects
  • Proactively work with Delivery Management and Service Lines to ensure that propositions are delivered using approved approaches, methodologies and assets. This will require an awareness of all active Squad projects in play
  • For designated, complex, multi-proposition projects, participate in the delivery advisory board

Building the capabilities

  • Work with Partner Management to build partnerships in the Squad domain and joint business development with partners
  • Build skills and capacity in the Squad to deliver propositions. Work with the Service Line leads to make sure capability developed within the Squad is reusable wherever possible, avoiding duplication and to achieve consistency.
  • Manage cross-functional resources (e.g. business consultants, business architects, project managers, designers, developers, and technology consultants) to agree, design and deliver propositions and solutions
  • As a subject matter expert, encourage and facilitate the development of team members’ expertise in Squad subject matter.
  • Champion innovation within the Squad and encourage the Squad to adopt lean start-up thinking applying principles such as MVP and validated learning to Squad deliverables
  • Build the overall Squad into a high-performance team, coaching the Squad members
  • Ensure that demand is appropriately logged and prioritised with Resourcing and Service Lines
