The Role

The person required to log integration test will need to be familiar with widely used Operating systems and understand the types of logs that are generated accordingly. So a list of widely used OS types in our client are as follows:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2/2012
  • RedHat Linux 5/6/7
  • CentOS 5/6/7
  • Solaris 10/11
  • HPUX

We would also require this person to be able to have some kind of basic knowledge around databases and again the types of logs that are generated, so for example types of SQL queries run against a database and the types of logs this may generate. The below are the most common types of DB’s currently utilised in our client:

  • Oracle 10/11/12
  • Microsoft SQL

The Opportunity

Working on a bespoke Application we require somebody who understands system logging in general and be able to pick out log types based on specific behaviors, so for example authentication type messages to an application GUI.

This person will also need to be able to articulate findings within testing sessions back to team members responsible for building content. So this might be showing that person fields of interest in order to form the conditions needed to build use cases (Alerts/Reports).

The Person

  • Educated to Bachelor's Degree level in a relevant discipline such as Information Technology, Computer Science or similar, or have equivalent professional qualifications
  • Experience in a Cyber Security Engineer role or similar position
  • Strong skills with core network infrastructure including LAN, WAN and WLAN
  • Solid background working with Web Application Firewalls (WAF) such as CheckPoint, Palo Alto and Fortinet
  • Experience with CISCO ASAs and CISCO FirePower
  • Previous work with HP ArcSight is essential
  • Experience working with Authentication, Password Access Management (PAM) or Identity Access Management (IAM) systems
  • Working knowledge or Firewalls (Threat detection/prevention tech), Windows/Linux/Unix
  • Experience managing vendors and 3rd parties at a technical & non-technical level.
  • Good working Experience on large scale migration project (IT or Network or any relevant domain)
  • Hands on experience of creating Test Strategy Document and Traceability Matrix
  • Good technical understanding of IT infrastructure

*Based in London with travel to client sites (mainly Slough)
