AI & Transformation Programme Manager
Technical Consultancy, London

The team you'll be working with:

NTT DATA is seeking a senior, delivery‑focused AI & Transformation Programme Manager to oversee large‑scale complex programmes that combine AI‑driven initiatives with broader digital and organisational transformation. This role requires exceptional stakeholder management up to C‑suite level, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to shape, mobilise, and lead multi‑disciplinary teams across business and technology functions.  In addition to AI‑specific initiatives, the role will at times steward non‑AI workstreams, ensuring cohesive delivery across strategy, data, technology, change, and governance.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead large‑scale programmes across both public and private sector clients spanning AI and non‑AI aspects, ensuring delivery to scope, timelines, and strategic outcomes.
  • Own programme mobilisation, governance, delivery structures, and financial controls across multiple parallel AI and business workstreams.
  • Provide authoritative leadership in environments with high ambiguity, shaping direction, clarifying requirements, and enabling decision‑making.
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders across client organisations; drive alignment across business, data, engineering, security, and operations functions.
  • Develop and maintain delivery plans, tasks, actions and RAID items to ensure structured and consistent delivery execution.
  • Represent programme status, risks, strategic decisions, and business impact to executive steering groups.
  • Manage RAID across a multi‑partner ecosystem, including dependencies between AI and broader transformation initiatives.
  • Oversee programme commercials, forecasting, financial governance and vendor/partner management.
  • Coordinate delivery across data foundations, ML/GenAI workstreams, operational transformation, and user‑centred design.
  • Ensure AI use cases are adopted through change management, training, and organisational readiness planning.
  • Lead business change strategy, including TOM design, process redesign, capability uplift, and benefits realisation.
  • Ensure transformation outcomes land sustainably across operational teams.
  • Support compliance with ethical AI principles, data privacy regulations, and service standards.

What experience you'll bring:

  • 8+ years’ experience in programme management, including leadership of large (£5m+), multi‑workstream transformation programmes.
  • Proven ability to operate with high ambiguity and drive clarity in fast‑evolving environments.
  • Demonstrable experience managing C‑suite or director‑level stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading programmes blending AI, data, engineering, and business‑change initiatives.
  • Strong commercial management experience, including budget ownership, business case development, contract management, and vendor oversight.
  • Proven track record delivering programmes within regulated or complex enterprise environments and leading delivery teams of mixed geographical locations (shores).
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with adaptability to fast-changing environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks and ethical considerations in AI deployment.
  • Experience delivering GenAI or machine learning programmes.
  • Background in transformation across sectors such as public sector, financial services, telecoms, manufacturing, energy and utilities or others.
  • Familiarity with AI governance, RAI frameworks, and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and leading Agile teams is an advantage.
  • Exposure to agentic AI systems and emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience with change management and organisational readiness for AI adoption.

Aptitude

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to shape programme strategy and influence direction beyond immediate delivery scope.
  • Executive presence: comfortable operating at senior levels, able to provide challenge while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Outcome Orientation: Focused on business value, not just delivery milestones.
  • Technical Translation: Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
  • Problem Solving: Break down complex problems and shape innovative AI-driven solutions.
  • Dealing with Ambiguity: Comfortable navigating uncertainty and shaping direction in evolving environments.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player able to work across disciplines and build consensus.
