NTT Data is looking for a Lead Developer able to take on the role of Principal Engineer in one of our leading clients in the TMT space. Significant experience with Java/Spring (Boot)/Microservices/Team Leadership is essential.
What you'll be doing:
The Principal Engineer role is a Technical Leadership and Enabler role, supporting multiple teams and Technical Leads across one of several tribes in a large engineering department for a well-known client. It is a hands-on role, and most of the work you do will consist of
- Working with Agile Scrum Teams and Technical Leads to support them in the work they are doing
- Working closely with architecture teams to drive innovative and functional designs that maintain the integrity of the existing estate
- Working with Technical and Managerial Leadership to fully understand the business needs and ensure these are filtered down to engineering teams
- Providing guidance on the technical direction of the department, enabling and easing the work of hundreds of engineering staff
- Evangelising strategic technologies and best practices to improve software delivery
- Working with and building Communities of Practice to support knowledge sharing and decision making
- Mentoring and Coaching all levels of engineer in coding practices and other areas
- Technical point of contact for other NTT Data-based engineering staff
- Keeping our “Clients First” and keeping up to date with NTT Data internal capabilities and how these can be used to improve our client’s systems
What experience you'll bring:
- Experience and Strong ability with Java, Spring and Spring Boot, Microservice architecture and API design
- Ability to make good technical decisions, and ability to convince others based on the merits and reasons for those choices
- Proven leadership skills, getting the best out of yourself and your team(s) under high pressure environments in a sustainable way
- Strong understanding of application design and architecture
- Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, working with business and technical stakeholders
You will be comfortable working with and influencing varied seniority levels both internally and with clients; and training and educating at all levels.
