The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Engineer to join our team, on site, with one of our long standing telecoms clients based in Slough, Berkshire.

The role is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing desktop assistance, support and cover to all of the business through the use of the Service Desk system (Remedy).

You will be a customer champion within NTT DATA.

The Opportunity

  • Desktop Client Services including but not limited to - desk-side support, mobile handsets, desktop hardware and software break/fix; installs, IMAC; technology refresh, storage management.
  • Desktop Application Services including but not limited to – electronic software distribution, patch management, image management, application packaging, virtulisation.
  • Security including but not limited to – antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, encryption, single sign on.
  • Complete Laptop, Desktop and phone builds and setup, prior to deployment to the user
  • Provide support for deployment of new equipment or resolution of faulty equipment
  • Provide support for AV and Conference facilities.

The Person

  • You will have a good working knowledge of the Windows OS environment, Office, Remedy and basic network knowledge, as well as some AV Knowledge, supported by an IT qualification. You will also be comfortable with physical work within the wider office.
  • You will have comprehensive experience of working in a Service Desk / Desktop environment and have excellent customer skills, as well as VIP knowledge.
  • Capable of managing your work time, be able to resolve IT queries following logical analysis, work as part of a team, have a ‘can-do’ attitude and complete calls / tasks by agreed deadlines. 
  • An understanding of the ITIL methodology, excellent administration and communication skills. 
  • Experience of proactively liaising with users in a non-technical manner.
  • Experience of VPN technologies, remote working requirements and an understanding of meeting room support.
