The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced PHP Developer to join or established team, working on site with one of our telecoms clients in Middlesex.

The Opportunity

  • You will working one of our product teams which is designed to deliver features to our end user on a daily basis.
  • We have used Scrum, Kanban in the past, but will be using Design thinking and XP within the product team and you will be working with your colleagues on each feature being developed. One of the XP practices will be followed on daily basis
  • You will be working in collaboration within the product team and the business to bring the best solution to the end users
  • You will have a go-to language (PHP + Front end) but we encourage you to pick up new skills and be curious to gain additional skills on the job
  • We are going with 'You Build it, you support it' where we use CI and CD on a constant basis and will be involved in getting our feature into production and also support end user feedback
  • You will participate in design (yes, UX too) , Coding and Retrospective and ensure you are the voice of the product teams

The Person

  • Strong experience as a web developer within an agile environment utilising a blend of methodologies such as Scrum, TDD and XP
  • Strong desire to deliver quality software with a collaborative attitude and an Agile and lean mindset
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality code in a Scrum environment using XP or similar techniques
  • Continuous Integration, ideally Continuous Delivery experience of leading a small team of developers
  • Demonstrable experience of coding using the following technologies:
    • Object Oriented PHP, MVC (Zend Framework or other), HTML5 and CSS3 coding with LESS or SASS, JavaScript, jQuery and AJAX, Responsive Web design, Bootstrap, Foundation, Grunt and Bower, Task automation, Website performance, optimisation and security, Web Analytics (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager), Application servers, HTTP protocol and WebServices, Linux skills.

Desirable experience includes:

  • JIRA
  • Confluence
  • Oracle
  • Experience of automated testing
  • Any exposure to other programming languages – Java and Python
