Job Summary/Purpose:

The Head of Business Architecture plays a highly visible, central role in developing business architecture capability for use in client delivery across all industries and services lines.  Reporting to the Head of Consulting, the Head of Business Architecture brings expert process optimisation, operating model, business analysis and business architecture knowledge, and is accountable for leading the Business Architecture (BA) discipline within the UK.

With a passion for helping clients transform their business, the head of Business Architecture works with organisations to understand their underlying business needs and goals and provides expert advice to support the resolution of complex business problems. 

Primary Responsibilities

Capability development

  • Lead the Business Architecture Discipline for the Consulting Service line
  • Grow the capabilities of the Business Architecture Discipline
  • Own the development of go-to market propositions
  • Extend the range of experience and skills of individual team members, resulting in increasing depth and breadth of Business Architecture capability
  • Provide Business Architecture thought leadership and contribute to blogs, conferences, events, white papers and social media as a subject matter expert
  • Motivate and mentor business analysts and architects
  • Educate key business stakeholders in our Business Architecture capabilities, ensuring that they are engaged, well-informed, and clear as to the capabilities in the field

Business development and client delivery

  • Support Client Partners in in the full sales development cycle for new opportunities and account development ensuring commercially viable solutions are taken to market and delivered
  • Build customer relationships within target accounts and gain trust and respect as a subject matter expert
  • Assist in the production of RFQ / RFI / RFP responses and other proposals to clients
  • Propose solutions to create and meet clients’ needs and serve as the domain expert to prospective clients by understanding their business and its needs
  • Provide project delivery oversight and quality assurance for Business Architecture projects

This Position’s Most Challenging Aspect

This is a highly visible position both internally and externally, requiring a confident and competent leader to build BA capabilities, support consulting sales and develop UK-wide propositions as part of our continued growth in the market. Consequently, taking clients’ and our own business on the change journey when introducing new concepts, approaches and technologies, while balancing and communicating deep technical domain knowledge is both the most challenging and the most rewarding aspect of this role.

  • Utilisation: 60% sales/ capability, 40% delivery
  • Number of BA discipline meetings held per year and attendance
  • Number of BA training sessions facilitated and team certifications
  • Number of thought pieces published, conferences attended (delegate and speaker)

  • Contribution to NTT DATA EMEA and Global Business Architecture community

Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements, Education

  • Demonstrable experience of leading business architecture engagements with clients - Required
  • Expert knowledge of business architecture and business analysis in a multi-disciplinary and commercial environment - Required
  • Ability to proactively develop customer relationships by listening to, understanding and anticipating, and providing solutions to customer needs - Required
  • Ability to use a clearly defined methodology for establishing priorities - Required
  • Evidence of working closely with bid teams to build define and deliver world-class bids - Required
  • Strong commercial acumen and awareness - Required
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of business with an appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance - Required
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organisation - Required
